My family is from Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Pasties are a part of our culture. Everyone has their favorite pasty shops. We'll sign up days in advance to make sure we can get one from our favorite shop sometimes. The pasties at Rocky's are every bit as good as the pasties I grew up eating. In fact, they're better than most I grew up on. I can only think of two pasties back home that I would prefer and truthfully, that might just be nostalgia. Rocky's pasties aren't huge, but the chunks of potato and onion are. They're awesomely big. The amount of meat is generous, well seasoned and evenly distributed throughout the whole pasty. The flavor is great, but there's no carrot or rutabaga. These are staples as far as I'm concerned. Aside from that, they really are great. Next time I'm in the area, I'm going to buy a mess of them for the freezer.

Tried it first time today, purchased beef and sausage. Wanted chicken as well but they did not have any left. I would say beef was my favorite for the texture, a bit salty but it did emphasized the bread aftertaste. Sausage was okay for me, flavor and texture kinda blended, hot sauce not good only if you put a drop else it overwhelms, add sour cream is a great add to mix with the potato.

I've missed these guys! Growing up in this small town and hearing stories from my dad about the local legend of Rocky's, then swinging by after my job is done and grabbing one as a teenager and now coming full circle and driving to see the old Town and stopping in for lunch cements this place as a testament of the American dream and the legacy of a small business. The whole menu is small but great! Try one of everything or grab a bunch for a backyard party!

Never had a pastie before so I tried it. Awesome! What's not to like, beef, onions, potatoes... Like a double sized empanada that's baked, not fries and with a buttery dough. A pastie and soda ran me 8.95 and I'm full.

Driving into Wharton I felt a different sense of ambiance. Everything felt more laid back - like a rural small town in the US. You don’t really get a lot of that in North Jersey. Any who, I was craving something to eat and happened to stumble upon this shop. It felt like a step back into history when I walked in. The owner was super friendly and explained to me how pasties came from the Cornish miners who immigrated here from England to mine. I initially only bought 2 but they were so good I went back to the store for 4 more since I live far. But, 1 is plenty for one person! Another thing to note is that the pastors are very shelf stable. You can get them frozen or ready cooked and the ready cooked I was able to leave overnight on my table and just reheat in the microwave in the morning and it still tasted great! Lastly, the pasties that were ready cooked were so hot and fresh you can tell they just came out the oven! Make sure to ask for the hot sauce if you’re like me and like spicy! I’ll definitely go back when I’m in the area again!

I love this place! Everything's deliciousl ! The pasties are the best and are the definition of comfort food, everytime I have one I'm transported back to my childhood when I lived just up the street from here, simpler times. Amazingly, the food is just as amazing as it was then, gotta love small mom & pop places like this that have been around generations. Rocky's never disappoints and is a must everytime I'm back in town.

Entering Rocky’s Pasties is like taking a step back in time. This small, family owned shop creates delicious pasties (Beef, Sausage and Chicken and No Onion). You can have a fresh (hot) baked pasty or frozen as well as Small or Large. A shop history/reheating direction sheet is available on the counter too. These hand held meat, potato and onion turnovers with a golden crust are quite filling and could be a complete dinner with the addition of a side salad. They also make their own kielbasa and there are a few dessert offerings as well such as Cheesecake, Cream Puffs and Kolachi (poppy seed, walnut, prune and apricot). The family counter staff is friendly and helpful and prices are reasonable. You do have to climb a few stairs from the sidewalk and again up to the front door to get to the shop and there is no handicapped ramp for those with mobility issues. Parking is free and on the street.
